Sachin Thube founded a farmer produces company in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar that’s helping farmers access technology and high quality agri inputs.
Sachin Thube, 38, gave up his journalism career to become a farmer-entrepreneur and change the lives of farmers in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar. Undeterred by a rare and severe fungal infection that impaired his speech three years ago, Sachin runs a farmer producer company (FPC) called Green Up. Green Up works with 3000 farmers to ensure a supply of good quality pesticides, seeds and fertlizers and access to farm drones and mechanised harvesting machines. It tries to increase their income by collectivising the produce, adding value through processing and packaging and linking farmers to big, national buyers. Green Up now has a turnover of Rs 20 crore.
This is a special series in collaboration with Samunnati on some remarkable Farmer Producer Companies that demonstrate that when small farmers come together, they can make a big difference.
